AMD Ryzen 5000 Builders Thread

Assuming Zen 3 mostly lives up to the expected IPC increases I'll definitely pick up either a 5900X or 5950X and do some shifting around with my current builds. I'll likely pick up an AM4 mini-itx board and push the current 3900X over to it and replace the 6700K.

If AMD managed to ship Zen 3 products today (or hell even just this week) with wide availability it would be the most impressive thing about this entire launch. Not even Apple is that good at clamping down on leaks, so it would be even more impressive than anything else they might have managed to accomplish.
 
Earlier this week I found out my main system cannot play 4k video smoothly, so I'm thinking about picking a new system with a non X version comes out.
 
I've been thinking of building a small form factor PC for a while now. The 5800X would be perfect for this.
 
I'll probably be looking at slotting a 5800X into my current X570 MB with a 3080-class GPU and a new RAM kit. My current 3600 and RAM will move over to the wife's computer to replace the aging 2500k.
 
I really wanted to wait for Zen 3 to build my latest computer, but my 4790K system died a third time this spring and I just got fed up and bought a 3900X instead. I still really want a 5900X, and I might just buy it even though it doesn't seem very cost efficient. I'll probably wait until the spring and get one anyway. It'll be the first time I've updated a processor without getting a new MB since I upgraded a Athlon 3500+ to an Athlon X2 4200+.
 
Yeah I will likely be getting the 5900X, but I will wait for reviews to see which one makes the most sense for games.

They skipped the 4000 series because Zen 2 APUs were already labeled as 4000 series parts. This way they get away from the confusion of APUs having last Gen cores on current Gen part numbers.
 
This needs to be in the board section or build section, but I would like to move to smaller cases, but with great airflow for all components for a great Zen3 build.

I'll post in other places, as my current am4 board is too old for this new goodness. A CPU without a board and bios is useless.
 
Has anyone said what will be the effective max power draw for any of the announced Vermeer SKUs? Matisse topped out at 142W.
 
Are there any new motherboards coming out, or revisions? What's my option for an X570 Tomahawk equivalent with Intel LAN?

I believe it was stated that sku for sku there will be the same max power draw. Performance goes up, power stays the same. We'll have to wait and see what the official reviews show in the end.

The Anandtech article had a blurb on that. "All four processors have the same official memory support at DDR4-3200, and the 105 W TDPs will offer a turbo power of 142 W, which is the same as the current generation Ryzen processors."
 
I currently have a 2600X and a MSI B450 Tomahawk motherboard. I’m planning on upgrading to the 5600X and I have 2 options. Option 1. I wait 5 to 6 months and upgrade the BIOS on my B450. This is the cheapest option at $300, but I don’t like the idea of the one direction beta BIOS update. The second option is to buy a B550 or X570 mother board. This option would cost me around $500, but I have no idea which type of board to get. I’m a little surprised at how many B550s cost more than a X570. I’m looking at boards in the $200 range. Something like the ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming (WiFi 6) or the GIGABYTE X570 AORUS ELITE WIFI.
