I'll add more to F@H soon... But the TeAm is running several other GPU projects also!!! GPU suckers!!! 🙂

And so much PrimeRib also... and other cpu sucking projects!... BoincGames!!! and TdP!!!

I need more junk and more $ for electric and Xanadu!

Maybe someone can tutor me on these other projects. Never know...I just might involve myself in some down the road. 😉

I have one WU completed on one rig that has not uploaded. Any way to force it? A later completed WU uploaded just fine.
Can only speak for the client v7: Pause + resume of the "slot" initiates another transfer retry.
The client (v7) periodically retries by itself, but it increases the retry period (IOW backs off of retries for longer and longer) if retries keep failing.

Using the V8 client. Does not appear to have ever tried again.

The sticky thread is a good start to some projects.

Instead of just having one with FAH, there are many with different topics.

We can start a new thread on this, but right now two things are going on with BOINC.

Tour de Primes is happening all month (February). This is PrimeGrid's annual competition where you can earn badges for finding primes. It's mostly individual-focused, so good for getting your feet wet without team pressure. Fair warning though - this year they raised the bar. Only "mega primes" count (Top 5000 qualifying primes), which cuts out some of the easier PrimeGrid sub-projects like PPSE. Still a fun way to get started if you're interested in prime hunting.

The other is boincgames.com - this one runs all year with different competitions:

  • Marathons: Year-long competition split into 3-month quarters. You earn points based on your ranking for each project during the quarter.
  • Sprints: Six 3-day events throughout the year on randomly selected projects. These are team-based, so we could use the help!

If you want to try either, you'll need to register with your CPID. That's your Cross-Project Identifier - you get it automatically after setting up your first BOINC account. Important tip: Use the same email address for every BOINC project you join. That keeps your CPID consistent across all projects for stat tracking.

Let me know if you want a walkthrough on getting started with any of this!

Question - I've noticed the overtake time increasing for the next slot up even though we are producing twice the amount... what gives with that? 🙄 When I first began the overtake was 1.2 weeks...now it is 1.7 weeks.

It's based on the average time IIRC. If the team we are trying to overtake also increases production it'll extend the time as well.

looking over it real quick, I see our average is still over 800M PPD. Yet we are only doing ~600M PPD. So the average is slowly going down. Thus, the time to overtake will take longer.

The overtake time is not very accurate. I'm not sure how the "Points 24hr Avg" is exactly calculated but it's something like an average over the the last 7 or 14 days or something along those lines and that's how it determines the overtake period. So right now the overtake of 1.7 weeks is based on our 24 hour average of 852,521,727 vs their 24 hour average of 275,582,482. But in reality we are doing around 550 million points per day currently vs they are doing around 270 million points per day. Any time there is a big change in output from either team it takes some time for the 24 hour average to catch up to it. The realistic number is more like 3-4 weeks to overtake them at our current output and their current output. We need to make up 7,065,102,284 points and are outproducing them by around 280 million points per day which comes out to 25 days.

I'm getting fairly close to my goal on Amicable Numbers so I'm going to start moving some stuff over to Folding@home. Just moved a 5070 over to Folding@home and will move more cards over once I get closer to the goal on Amicable Numbers.

Three more 4080's inbound to add to the "fold". Just finished up prepping the new AM5 machine that will replace the AM4 on the dedicated DIMAS bench. These should bring ppd output up to a decent level.
