Gmail won't let me add another account

Gmail will not let me add another gmail account to my main account. I disabled 2FA and tried the "less secure app access" option, but it says "This setting is not available for your account.". I tried this on a different internet browser, so it's not a cache issue.

Enlighten me, what is the advantage of having a 2nd gmail account on the same Google account?

Since I don't know, I'd just create a 2nd Google account.

If the situation is that you want to send and receive emails for two different gmail email addresses from the same webmail page, I could understand that, but instead, I handle several different email accounts from google and elsewhere by using Thunderbird Portable email client instead of webmail, so it just checks them all and I can choose which to use to send email as well.
