hi guys 🙂
can you pls help me on this issue, i would be a happy man if you do 🙂 well i have a 7 old pc and i was going for the gtx 1050 ti but recently i found some forums say that new gpus will have compatibility issues with old oem pc mobo due to bios/uefi that will result in booting problem and in the same time there is many others who successfully installed the gtx 1050 ti on 2008/2009 outdated bios mobo.. i'm very confused right now, i don't know what to do !!
pc specs:
pegatron 2ab5 sandybridge h67 ami 7.07 2011 legay bios
i5 2500
8 gb ddr3
500w psu

And as far as your question, it may work and it may not work. I just helped someone yesterday who couldn't boot with a PCIe 2.0 card in a PCIe 3.0 slot. It's supposed to backwards compatible, but it would not work until he replaced it a GTX 1030.

So the only way to know is if you can find someone with the same motherboard who has tried it, or try it yourself. But based on Pegatron's past history, I wouldn't think they put any time into adding support for new cards into their older chipsets.

Likely no problem. I've only seen AMD cards having issues on old mobos, not Nvidia.

i hope 🙂 .. i saw many youtuber put gtx 1070 and 1080 and other modern gpus paired with 5$ crappy cpus on very old oem pcs (for testing purposes of course) that were on old legacy bios not the uefi bios and succeding at making it work.. i've seen on the manufactures forums say that new gpus won't work on old mobo due to the bios but that's not always true..
i've seen a lot of mixed opinion about this and i don't konw if it will work or not?

I've never had an issue installing a PCI Express card in older chipsets, even OEM ones. I have had problems installing PCI Express cards in a server motherboard, but that's about it.

I’ll throw my 1050ti in my old AM2 and LGA775 (both DDR2) boards tomorrow and let you know how they do.
i'm glad i found help from here guys(i didn't get much from other forums) and thanks charlie22911 for trying the gtx 1050 ti for me, can't wait for your results 🙂

GTX 1050ti (PNY XLR8) works very well with my Gigabyte EP45-UD3L (LGA 775), running Linux Mint with nvidia's driver.

Ok, just tried it in my two oldest boards.

MSI 785GTM-E45 (~2010): Works fine.
Gigabyte GA-G41M-ES2L (~2009): Works fine.

Your mileage may vary of course. 😉

In case you are still worried about compatibility, I have installed several GT 1030 GPUs (newer than the 1050Ti) in Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad machines from 2006 with no problems. The same goes for my Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge computers. I have also tested more powerful GPUs like my GTX 970 using OEM 300W power supplies with no problems either.

If you really want to play it safe, buy your GPU from a seller with a return policy. If it doesn't work, return it.

Thank you for the info 🙂 and yes that's what i am going to do 😉

Even in a mb slightly more recent ?

I don't think you'll have an issue, but you can't always rule out some strange outlier.
For example, I have a PCIe USB 3.0 controller that causes my brand new x399 board to not POST, but works fine in literally every other board I have with vintages ranging from 2009-2017.
