I really dislike the idea of "collector tools". Everything in the world is fucking worthless. Stuff only has value cause someone said it does, and it'll all be dust eventually. Even diamonds aren't forever. Not using a fantastic tool is a greater sin than putting nicks in it.

I used to think about "stuff" the same way, but then I realized that stuff has "intrinsic value", and as emotional creatures, having stuff we simply like having IS valuable!! Growing up with anxiety, I always felt like I had to justify everything in my life. Then I read this great quote by Amelia Earhart regarding her need to fly:

“I want to do it because I want to do it."

Then I decided that, you know what? Screw it...it's perfectly okay just to enjoy having stuff for no justifiable reason lol. I mean, that sounds obvious, but as a person with many & varied interests, I always felt like I needed to be productive ALL the time & felt vaguely guilty goofing off (turned out that was due to undiagnosed histamine intolerance!). I ended up hitting real burnout at the start of COVID:

* My experience with IT burnout

I don't necessarily understand everyone's collections, but I can appreciate them more now! Like, my buddy collects expensive Jordan shoes...never wears them, never takes them out of the box, rarely sells or swaps them...literally just keep them in the boxes on display shelves to look at. I don't get it, but it makes HIM happy, so more power to him, haha!

Had toasted PBJ for breakfast. I have some bread that needs to be gone before it goes off. I made it last night as a snack also. I hadn't had PBJ in forever, and it was really good. Used Earth Balance coconut peanutbutter(stuff is tits)

and Bonne Maman golden plum(not too bad)

Got me thinking about Trappist Preserves damson plum. That was always my favorite, but it's become unobtanium locally. Looked them up to see if they were still around, and you can buy online! I might get a case delivered. Better than anything I've had from a normal grocer. The Jesus makes it taste better ;^)

I think that may be the first time I've seen "extra virgin" applied to coconut oil (not that I'm a big coconut oil consumer)
Microwaves need to sense where the handle on the bowl, cup or mug is and rotate it to the the door opening.
It's interesting to hear you of all people clamoring for more tech in what is often a pretty simple device. I don't tend to microwave anything with a handle, not a desirable feature for me.

Yea, I'm pretty sure it's bullshit. Might be a somewhat accurate translation of olive oil practice, but I don't think it means anything. Good peanutbutter though. Has a distinct coconut flavor. Makes a great sandwich, and is a little different.

I was thinking the same when warming up my coffee. I think it would actually be fairly easy to do too, all it needs to do is detect the current position of the turn table and make sure that it ends in the same spot. Even after the microwave is done microwaving it would continue to spin until it gets to where it left off. Come to think of it, it doesn't even need to know the exact location it just needs to know *a* location, and always stop there. Could just be a limit switch that gets touched after each rotation and that switch stops the rotation if the magnetron is not on. The table rotates continuously until the timer is off and that switch is active.

Now I have a sudden urge to buy a cheap microwave just so I can implement this feature.

Actually that could be a fun thing to do is buy appliances and mod in features like this into them. I want a dishwasher that allows me to create custom run programs where I have full control over every part of it so I can customize the wash cycle. I also want it to have a built in CED player and and use a heat pump instead of the heat element. Yes I've watched too much Technology Connections.

Lol that's me with anything.

I lost a document once in year 2002 because my computer blue screened. Never again.

Been listening to a Buffy podcast, and the hosts talk about astrology A LOT. It pisses me off to an unreasonable degree. I don't mind hippie dippy bullshit if it isn't taken too seriously. I can appreciate playing around with the idea of magic, but at the end of the day you have to put on your big boy pants, and join the real world. Shit makes my skin crawl, and I automatically deduct tens of IQ points when I hear people talking about astrology.

That's only one of the problems with the podcast, but it's really bugging the shit out of me atm.

Vintage banjolele finally arrived, definitely going to need some work, likely to include fret dressing (which I'll pay a shop to do, I like having reasons to give them business). Whoever strung this last (long ago, based on the strings still having chenille on them, which AFAIK stopped being common practice decades ago) didn't do a very good job, they appear to have wound the entirety of the string onto the tuning peg rather than trimming it to an appropriate length. Some of the tension hooks are so loose they're not holding the hoop at all, there's something rattling in the resonator body, the G keeps popping off the bridge, and the E has steadfastly refused to hold tuning (wasn't even trying for full concert pitch, just something resembling GCEA but down a few steps). But I'm looking forward to returning it to service making music. Planning to replace the head and go to nylon strings instead of the steel there are on there. It's apparently been a wallhanger for quite some time.

It always feels like a little victory when I click the "I am not a robot" box and it doesn't make me do a CAPTCHA.
Some sites won't complete for me. It thinks, then resets over and over. Probably has something to do with my addons/security. I just go elsewhere. I'm tired of the bullshit.
