Putin is a very very very happy man today. Despite helping Iran with selecting American targets, Trump have rewarded Putin with the twin gifts of a) the unshackling of Russian oil and b) a sky high oil price.
The Russian government's budget is now looking much much better. Still not at breakeven point for the budget. Putin would need both volume and price to do that, but the American administration is terrible sensitive to petrol prices leading up to the midterms, so there are already statements saying that Russian oil may be further unshackled.
