Seeking a laptop with certain features...

I'm looking for a laptop with a couple of key wants. One is having two nvme SSD slots for extra storage. Another is an SD card reader, and ideally USB-C for transferring files from memory cards. I also want the usual goodies such as a backlit keyboard, somewhat light weight, and the ability to output to a 4k monitor at 120hz, although that is not a firm requirement. There will be no gaming on it, just web browsing and some photo editing etc.

The reason I'm looking for one is we are taking a 3 week vacation and I want to load each days images to the laptop, then copy them to the second SSD for backup. After that I will copy everything over to a USB-C portable drive just in case. After the trip the wife will use it as her main PC because her current desktop is old and Windows 10 and we want to "upgrade" to Windows 11.

I am spending time today researching around, looking for early Black Friday deals.

Ended up spending a titch more than I expected, but it ticks all of the boxes. I will likely replace the C: drive with a 2TB Sabrent Nano, and add a 2 or 4TB 990 Pro as the second drive. I also have a 1TB USB drive for additional backup when on vacation.

It has a beautiful display, although it has a glossy finish instead of matte, that shouldn't be a deal-breaker. I looked at and put my hands on a similar one at best Buy to judge weight and overall size and I think it will be okay to carry around in my carry on backpack. It's $500 off until tomorrow.

Replying to myself again lol, but hoping this helps others in the future. I love the Lenovo laptop. I put a 4TB Samsung 990 Pro in the spare storage slot for additional storage. I was going to upgrade the OS nvme ssd with a Corsair 600 micro for twice the storage and a bit more speed, but mostly future-proofing the storage. It has a WD 7100 drive in it.

Unfortunately I went to remove the OS ssd and the screw head was locked tight. I started turning, gave it a bit more and the head popped off. Rather than mess around with screw extractors etc. I 'm taking it back, I should be able to change the ssd myself, and there are no warranty seals on it I expect Lenovo expects people to open it to upgrade or add the additional storage etc.

The head of the screw broke off. I did not feel like trying to drill the rest of the screw out, so I'm taking it back. The unusual thing, at least to me, is that the screw doesn't screw into a motherboard standoff, it screws into a post that is integral to the frame itself. I was thinking I could just replace the standoff, but no

Weird, I don't think I've seen that before. Admittedly I haven't removed many NVMe drives from laptops either, but I haven't had any trouble doing so before (including a Lenovo or two for jobs like secure wipes).

Received the replacement laptop this week. I was able to remove the factory nvme ssd and replace it with the Corsair easily enough, and the 990 Pro for storage. Windows 11 all installed and updated, I will add STEAM to it to play games while on vacation. The display is gorgeous, although the version with only 500 nits of brightness is also plenty imho. Nice laptop at the $500 off for Black Friday.
