i have 2 12s in a sealed box r types they are 1000 watts rms have an Orion amp that can power these speakers it's in an SUV feel as if I'm not getting enough bass. Every time I turn up gain goes into protection mode

You're saying it doesnt get loud enough for you and the amp is going into protection mode. So you need either higher sensitivity subs or a better amp. Doesnt seem that complicated?

box might not be correct size
if its a car box, it def is too small
sup box design for a home is an art

Soo the box size can make a big difference? I' don't know a lot about this stuff

1. Check your wiring. Make sure nothing is being shorted. Even a single strand of speaker wire shorting will cause the amp to go into protection.
2. Make sure you're not exceeding the impedance (ohms) of each channel of the amp. Most 2 channel amps can only handle 2 ohms each. If you bridge then that usually drops to 4 ohms. Some mono sub amps can go as low as 1 ohm. Check the specs of your amp.
3. Check for correct polarity to the speakers. Reverse polarity will cause low bass output.

What kind of subs are they....model number?

What kind of amp are you using....model number?

How large is the enclosure?

Please provide more details in your posting.
