Swapping HD's in the same external enclosure.

Hey all.
I just got myself an 4TB external HD and i'm wondering if i would i have much luck in replacing the 1.5TB drive in an older Verbatim external enclosure with the new 4TB so that i could put the Verbatim drive internally into a new PC build? I'm being picky really, as i like the Verbatim enclosure because it has a good on/off button on the case.

As long as your PC can handle 4tb drives, it should make no difference. I think my Vantec external case is on its 3rd upgraded HDD.

To be clear, i'm talking about 2 separate external hard drives rather than a swapable external drive enclosure.
I think i'll just transfer the data on the older 1.5TB onto one of the other externals and put that drive into the PC without any external swapping.

As Elixer said, depending on the controller in the Verbatim enclosure, it could be that it is too old to properly detect the full size.
I would say also depending on the external hdd it might be a usb only connector on the drive but those are usually on the laptop size portable drives
