You are correct, this is NOT the permanent look for the forums. It is temporary, which still allows you to access the forums rather than taking them down until we can get the original styling fixed up. Apologies for the issues, but this was the best alternative.

Install the Dark Reader extension in your browser until they get everything fixed.

At least then you won't be blinded by the righteous light of the hamster revolution. Or, whatever they are calling this....

I thought for a second that I had been redirected to the forums over at TheFPSReview.

If you think this is bad you should have seen the forums last night around 10pm. I thought I'd been redirected to 1993.

This is true.

Every time the forums go down now, my first thought is always consideration of the odds of if it is just maintenance vs ownership just finally pulling the plug on the whole thing.....

Still says it is Xenforo. This would just be a newer version.
And why update software? Usually for security and compatibility reasons.
Things generally cannot stay static forever. Some day everything must change.
 
At least the avatars are big enough to see in this UI. I can't tell you how many times I've had to zoom in on someone's avatar trying to figure out what the heck is in the image.

It's also present on the desktop version, but toggling that doesn't do anything for me - but I want dark theme and it may be my fault, having a double redundant way to force dark mode with a browser-addon or dark system theme.
