Pulled the wings off the smoker to see were I was at. They have that nice pink color that I love to see when smoking poultry especially on the dark meat. Taste is spot on but the skin could be a little more crisp. Juices are running clear and the fat has fully rendered.

Spent four hours today smoking a spiral sliced ham that I got a great deal on at Kroger.

Went on the smoker at 11:30 this morning.

Pulled it off at 4:30 in the afternoon. I love how you can see the thigh bone and knuckle separating from the thigh meat.

It was so tender that I was able to cut the thigh bone and knuckle away from the thigh meat. I'll save the bone and knuckle to make a nice base stock for some soup.

Not exactly a meal yet but I got the stock started for dinner tonight. First, I cut all the good meat off the thigh bone and knuckle from yesterday so it wouldn't be wasted. Then I threw the bones into a pot with some fresh veggies and herbs.

It will take about 90 minutes and then I can pour off the stock and start the soup. I'm thinking a bowl of veggie soup with a hot ham and cheese sandwich on fresh baked bread sounds pretty good.

Splurged on some USDA prime beef from Costco! Every year we have a small family and friends get together on Christmas Eve so I thought it would be nice to serve some good steaks.

I just pulled them out of the fridge so they can warm up a little before I add the seasoning. Just going to use the traditional salt, pepper, a hint of garlic, and maybe a little smoked paprika for the seasoning profile.

Made my famous ramen bowl tonight.

It's uncooked packet ramen noodles that I break up a bit and put into a plastic container. No seasoning. Almost burned the kitchen down, but it's worth it.

Umm, the noddle is already cooked, you are just rehydrating.

I have this thing for collecting community recipe books. Old church groups, womens clubs, that sort of thing. Some of the recipes are good. Some are kinda strange.
At my daughters urging i made this recipe for Gefüllte Tomaten
It was surprisingly delicious.
