Trump Campaign Aides Had Repeated Contacts With Russian Intelligence

WASHINGTON — Phone records and intercepted calls show that members of Donald J. Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and other Trump associates had repeated contacts with senior Russian intelligence officials in the year before the election, according to four current and former American officials.

American law enforcement and intelligence agencies intercepted the communications around the same time that they were discovering evidence that Russia was trying to disrupt the presidential election by hacking into the Democratic National Committee, three of the officials said. The intelligence agencies then sought to learn whether the Trump campaign was colluding with the Russians on the hacking or other efforts to influence the election.

Well, how about that.

Not sure how much longer the Senate can hold out not holding a select committee. Like this shit is crazy now.

Also re: leaks....maybe Trump is regretting talking a rash of constant shit about the IC and taking a rhetorical dump in front of the CIA memorial wall.

I read that the press secretary was specifically asked today if campaign staff had contact with Russia and it was denied. I don't know if that's accurate or not, if it is, I assume they are continuing to set them up and catch them lying.

Lotsa bad hombres err.. люди in the White House.

Also, once again, it has to be said: Heckuva job, Comey. There's no excuse for him not to resign now. He's a disgrace.

Tweets from people at CNN that they have all the names of Trump campaign officials who spoke constantly with Russian operatives but holding for now seeking comment.

Feels like living in a banana Republic having arms of the federal government in conflict with itself like this, but I have no choice but to support it because this shit just cannot stand. It is now looking at least somewhat plausible that this entire campaign was a Russian intelligence OP. This shit is supposed to be in the realm of nutter conspiracy theory.

I actually have a different view point on this.

Comey did exactly what he needed to do. He actually allowed Putin to get his way, long enough, to gather ALL the evidence needed for more than just blaming Russia.

What? You think allowing Trump to become president in the face of this is a good idea? This is bordering on constitutional crisis depending on how high and what the contacts were about.

My quoting is broken, not sure why.

Not a good idea. But it allows for much much more to be done.

Note how Pence is being moved away from Trump. Preibus is being moved away, etc.

Just a theory.

Hopefully this treason will destroy the Republican party once and for all. Only silver lining I can see coming out of this.

So was Roger Stone.

They also state that there are people on the list that were not part of the administration but from his sphere of influence.

At what point do Republican voters start admitting to themselves that they were unwitting accomplices (useful idiots) to a treason?

Now I want to know if Sergei Ryabkov is one of the Russians involved. He is the Deputy Foreign Minister who said months ago that Moscow was in constant contact with the Trump team.

Weird. This whole love affair between Trump and Putin is just weird. You can't make this crazy shit up.

With rank amateur Trump at war with our time hardened and honed intelligence agencies who know Putin and his shenanigans so so well, what unfolds from here on in with this Russia business is going to be quite interesting to say the least.

Nobody cares.

Everybody cares, except for Trump bootlickers.

Seriously, they could be leading Trump out of the White House in handcuffs and you'd still be parroting the "nobody cares" lie. Anything to avoid accepting that you backed the wrong horse.

lol @ you dems

Your strategy of making hay out of every straw will backfire one day. Not that it will matter.

Treason is punishable by death in the US (correct me if I'm wrong). Nobody cares you say? Not even the Trump government that one (of probably many) of their own has links to Russia?

So, do Trump, his campaign members and his sphere of influence have a good explanation for why they were in constant contact with senior Russian officials through the campaign and beyond?
