👍 Now start opening the frunk everywhere you go to make people freak out. I dumped my Ford stock after they cancelled the lightning. They could have made a cheaper 2nd gen as they left a lot on the table with these models.

Seems TN goofed a little on my tags as they didn't charge me the EV fee. It is listed as electric fuel, but they may think it is just a different model ICE 150. We shall see next year. Still love mine, up to 23k miles now, avg is 2.1mi/kwh. Now that warmer weather is here, I expect that to rise. Added a 50a plug at the rental house i'm working on, so I can charge during the day and write that utility bill off on taxes.

@BoomerD If you still need a charger, you can get Juicebox 40's for pretty cheap now, $100-$150. They went belly up so there is no app access anymore, but you can change the circuit board pretty easy with an openevse kit. Really nice charger, beefy cords

Did my first real tow with it this weekend. Hauled manure with my 16' dump trailer. Towed really well, plenty of power. 1.5mi/kwh going empty, 1.3mi/kwh loaded. It wouldn't surprise me if I was over the 10k lb rating on the truck

So let's do the math. I pay 12c/kwh, so we will round up to 15c for losses in charging. So 11.5c per loaded mile. What would a gas 1/2 ton get for mileage while towing 10k lbs under 60mph? 16mpg? So that would be 20c/mi @ $3.25/gal

Electricity (at home) is 9.4 cents/kWh, gasoline is about $5.00/gallon. A charge from 0 to 130kW will cost about $13.00, for (theoretically) about 320 miles. At 18 mpg and $5.00/gallon, that's almost $90.
Still looking at chargers. I doubt I'd take a chance on the JuiceBox...or any of the other cheap-o chargers on Amazon. I know it's gonna cost me somewhere between $450 and $600...then the install...that's gonna be $1500-$1800 for a 60 amp circuit, 50' from the panel to the charger.

Why so big on the charger? Do you think you need to max out the on board charger?

Mainly because the difference in price is so minimal between a “lesser” charger of good quality, and a 48 amp unit, especially with the cost of an electrician to run the power. No, I DO NOT need to fully charge every night. I might not leave the house for a couple of days on end…so a slower charger would be fine.
