My manager is suppose to get more details soon about what happens to our department, but he said we are actually listed as "mobile" in corporate, which could be a good sign. There is a slight possibility we may actually stay hybrid. My boss is actually for it, because it allows better business continuity. Ex: if something happens at the office like a fire alarm or something, some of us are at home and can continue to work. This is something he has been trying to setup for years even before the pandemic, and it involved having some workstations at another office. The problem is if you don't exercise the workstations by logging in to them at least once a week, they fall off the domain, the ethernet ports get deactivated, software gets outdated etc... so it was just not a viable plan. But being setup to work from home, and doing it regularly, is since you are bringing your own PC with you. Should something happen at the office some of us will already have our PCs at home fully setup and ready to go.
So he will try to justify to corporate that we stay hybrid. I think the key to making this work is that there is a business justification, and this may very well work. Fingers crossed!
