B250 + Skylake CPU, DDR4 2400 or not?

Does DDR4-2400 RAM work on a build with a B250 motherboard and a Skylake (not Kaby Lake) CPU? I've seen conflicting information on this. I'm sure a 200-series or Z-series motherboard is required to support DDR4 2400 RAM speeds with a Kaby Lake processor, and higher RAM speeds work just fine with Z270/Z170 + Skylake CPU, but what about B250 or H270 + Skylake? Would the RAM be limited to DDR4 2133?

The limit to the DDR4 DRAM speed is the CPU, partially, with the exception that the Z-series chipsets can overclock RAM.

So, H110 + KBL = 2400 max DDR4 speed. B250 + SKL = 2133 max DDR4 speed. Either SKL or KBL + Z170 or Z270 = limited only by the processor's and RAM's limits.

Thanks, that explains it.
