I have a 1996 honda civic one day I had to slam on my brakes and the car dyed and started back up fine but I did notice that there was a knock whim the car was shiftin from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. At first I thought it was the oil and when I got to work I checked the oil and it was a little low I added oil then today it did the same thon but I didn't slam on the brakes can some one help me?

A knock when shifting... CV axle? Maybe an engine mount?

My CRX did this when the trans mount went bad, engine moved to much at high RPM causing a knocking sound. Very easy to test get someone to sit in it and floor it from idle to redline while you have the hood open and observe engine for movement.
