I wonder if Opera will work in XP. Besides, Opera now has its own built-in VPN. I tested it and it's pretty secure. Although, I have yet to sniff packets from the browser. It does pass https://www.dnsleaktest.com/ The ASN they use is Surfeasy. They have servers in Canada and the Netherlands.

Do make sure you have WebRTC off. That will leak yo butt faster than a three day old buretto from TacoHell.

It seems they are mainly security updates and I have had no issues with them. Other have used that registry hack as well and no one has seen any issues caused by it.

The issue is that the updates address POS system OS's and not a desktop OS. This was a discussion in the Pale Moon browser forum.

I run XP myself on a netbook that stays on 24/7 with a FTP server and PhoneTray. But I'm not at all concerned about hacking crap. It's all on the user.

In fact, I haven't used BS updates since 2004 in any OS. Never had an issue. It's all on the user. I just shake my head on people with update issues posted on forums across the Internet.

I periodically scan my computer with Malwarebytes, Super antispyware, Herdprotect, Hijackthis, Freefixer, TDsskiller, etc, etc. Nothing is ever found. I guess my use of Noscript, uBlock (non-origin), Sandboxie and VooDoo Shield goes a long way.
