This guy does an amazing job on his videos, his testing on many multiplayer hit registration / netcode is great.

Fast Sync vs VSync

Hopefully he can get some AMD hardware and test out FreeSync as well, though it should be very similar to gsync. First person I've seen test this since Linus Tech Tips when gsync/freesync first came out.

1 thing he did fail to test, was the smoothness, or lack there of, of fast sync. Fast sync isn't a 1 size fits all solution, because in some games, it will make the game feel choppy. Regular V-sync can create back pressure, which can smooth out the time frame of a game.

I do use Fast sync, but not in all games, as I've found it can make some choppy.

He did mention that near the end:

He even says that he wouldn't recommend fast sync due to the stuttering.

Weird, I got lots of stuttering when I was on my 1080p 60Hz monitor last time when my fps dropped below 60. Now that I got myself Acer XB271HU, even using my R9 290 with it so no Gsync at all, running at 144Hz refresh rate, I can't see tearing even when my fps dropped to below 40. I was playing rise of tomb raider and DOTA 2. Stuttering is massively reduced when my fps dropped to 40. 144Hz is damn cool, still trying to justify gtx1070...
