Hawaii peeps check in.

I saw an alert that warned people on the big island that areas around Kilauea were being warned of a threat from violent eruption.

It's been doing these cyclic eruptions regularly since Dec. 2024. It rained a good amount of tephra this time.

We're about to have some fun here. Some other sources are actually saying up to 98cm (a bit over 3 feet). Either way when it's windy like that it drifts all over so it's always way higher than forecasted in some spots. This is possibly going to be bigger than the December storm we had. There's talk about possibly having everyone at my office work from home Sunday and Monday. That will be nice if that's the case. Saves from trying to dig out in middle of the storm.

They just upgraded the special weather statement to say 40 to 80cm now lol. I double checked with my boss and I can work from home tomorrow, so that's going to save me a lot of trouble. I'll just be able to sit at home and ride through the storm and deal with it after it's done.

The storm has started, right now it's fairly tame, just a normal snow fall and about 1cm/hour but suppose to ramp up tomorrow. So glad I get to work from home.

That's normally WAY too hot for my liking, but I could use a bit of that right now lol.
It would get old really fast. It's not so bad now because the air isn't humid, though this is still insanely hot for this time of year even in Texas. But by June when it's 100F and so humid your face gets sticky two minutes after washing it, like you rubbed a stick of butter all over it, it really is disgusting here. I have made posts on here before showing when for instance my neighborhood had a heat index of 125F = 52C in the shit of June.

Yeah I can't imagine wanting to live in that kind of heat. I sometimes look at land in Texas for fun as I really don't like the political direction Canada is going these days, but grass is not always greener on the other side. In fact I'm pretty sure it's going to be yellow there. 😛

52C is insane, that's roughly close to what the plenum of my furnace gets to when heat is on lol.

Into the storm right now, so far it's not too bad. It's moving north east and lot of it will miss us. I don't think we're going to get the 80cm, but Sudbury area might... the worse of it is heading that direction.

Cold front has already dropped us almost 40 degrees F in the 4 1/2 hours since I posted when it was 97F. I never even noticed the compressional heating before a cold front until our weather guy on KSAT12 brought it up one time and now I notice every time we have a decently strong cold front come in when it's not winter we get record highs immediately before.

-14 feels like -24. Snow continues and will continue throughout today. Lots of wind too.

Plow already did my street so looks like they are doing what they can to clear the city, but as far as I know lot of stuff is going to be closed anyway as a precaution. Not too often we actually get a full blown snow day here. Usually it's only the schools. Second time this year too.

Highways in the area are pretty much all shut down.

It was so nice in the Central Valley this weekend. In the 70s most of the time. This week is supposed to be low to mid 90s and I'm not ready! Will have to get my AC serviced before things start really heating up!

Snow continues. Was going to go do the driveway at end of my shift but said FTS and went to bed. Was glad I got to work from home may as well take advantage and go to bed right away. The roads were not too bad from what I hear though, city buses and services running, they're even doing garbage pickup.

Still coming down, may as well wait until it's done at this point. I don't have to be anywhere until Sunday anyway.

Cats are annoyed they can't look outside. There's also a black cat in that picture.

The wind is completely nuts tonight. Power been out for about an hour now, supposedly a big tree fell on a primary line. Took out a good part of town. Fun stuff. Suppose I should shut down my PC and go read a book or something to save on battery.

High of 85° today.
Rest of the week looks to be 85-89°
9 pm right now and it's 76°
