Question Just purchased a cat 6 ethernet cable: Is this common with packaging?

I just purchased a cat 6 ethernet cable. I noticed that out of the box as I was unwrapping the cable, some parts of the cable were fused to the adjacent part of the cable. Was it like that so that it is easier to keep it wrapped up neatly or was it most likely because of a fault at the factory that caused this during the packaging process? I peeled off some of the insulation of the cable as I was splitting apart the fusion in order to unwrap the cable. Is it common to have ethernet cables fused in some areas and you must break the fusion in order to unwrap them completely? I never seen this before, but then again I don't often buy an ethernet cable. The brand of the cable is ATIVA.

No, not normal. I've bought a lot of premade network cable and haven't seen that.

I explained to customer service the issue with the cable and got a refund.

Sounds like cheap pre-made cable, possibly with the "wrong" kind of plastic on the outer casing, that got hot in the warehouse and started to flow together.

There are some good cables from Amazon but my default ethernet cable store is monoprice.

I’ve seen cheap cables come slightly stuck from tight packing, but full-on fused sections usually point to a bad batch. I’d exchange it to avoid hidden damage inside the wires.

I'm pretty sure the original poster has solved the problem one way or another after two years.
