Need a loan

Medical bills are ALWAYS negotiable. They will work with you A LOT. I have had many instances where, even without a plan in place, I just sent them $100 or whatever every month and they never said a thing. And even if you want to do a plan, they will work with your A LOT. They are going to say 12-24 months out of the gate and try to stonewall you there, but they will go longer. Easily.

If you really need a loan, I can not recommend SoFi.com enough. They have been great for me.

If you really don't want the hassle of dealing with the hospital here's an offhand way to perhaps get around it, if you have good credit:

Finance $5000 with the hospital.
Apply for a CC with a 0% intro rate (preferably for 18 months)
Finance the other $5000 with the CC
Pay the small minimum on the CC every month
When the 18 month intro period is over get a new CC
bounce the balance back and forth until you're ready to attack it head on

Banks are throwing out CC like candy, especially if they like your credit history. I have around 18 CC, all but one with a zero balance.

Are you trying to give him more debt?

This is what I did before. Had a few k in bills they wanted me to pay over $200/month, I told them that I will pay them $100/month and they can get all their money or they can sell it for less to a bill collector and I won't pay it at all. They took the $100 a month. In another instance I just sent in $100/month until it was paid off, I kept getting alerts that I needed to pay it all but nothing ever happened and I paid it off over about 10 months.

Yeap. Generally speaking from my experience, if you send them some money (I'm guessing more than $2/month) and do it regularly and consistently, they are not going to drop the hammer on you.

Guys, we're all in a necrothread.

Person who originally posted got the ban hammer (as the message is missing), but I replied to it a page before.
