Need to buy a laptop for my father's workplace

To throw a wild-card into the mix, they are releasing the 12th-gen Pentium and i3 CPUs, specifically the N305-based 8 E cores variety soon. They are oriented towards the "budget" end of the market.

It has my approval on technical merit; though I'm not willing to personally vouch for the seller. Most of them that ship from USA are decent, though. Don't think that I'd order one from a China-seller.

I have used the cramped screens at the law library(I guess its older Dells). It's not fun and a downgrade even from 1600x900(which is what my current used monitor is at). They don't want you learning too much too fast. lol

Very nice laptop for the price... enjoy...

I would probably upgrade the Ram and see if the nVME internally is upgradable.
16GB + 1TB drive should be way more then enough oomph, and shouldnt cost you more then $100 combined, and should give you a very nice boost in overall performance.

Believe it or not i need that 10key on the side or i feel sort of naked without it.
Which makes using laptops for me very difficult.
Id prefer using a tablet instead, but i sort of cheat in this area by using a Microsoft Surface Pro, so i get the best of both worlds.
And i feel microsoft has the soft nicest keyboard tactile feel.
Even my friends who have apple Macbook's say my keyboard feels nicer.

It supports MicroSD card. Is that not recommended? I don't know if it supports additional RAM or SSD.

You could always get a 17" laptop like my father and I to get the number pad on the side along with proper arrow keys instead of squished upper and lower keys
 
I do have a major question after buying the laptop. If I'm in India and something happens, I'm not going to America then I'm just mighty screwed aren't I? Cost of shipping to America would cancel out whatever money I've saved refurbished. Any recommendations for refurbished sellers with global (or Indian) warranty?
 
Follow up: I need to buy a second laptop for a friend of my father's with the exact same workload. If anyone spots any great refurbished deals (with Indian coverage; not US restricted) let me know!
