Went to AMC for 3 movies

The Moment - hadn't even seen the preview, it's a mockumentary about a British pop star. RT lists it as a comedy/drama/music. I don't know about any of those, there were a couple funny'ish scenes, there was some drama, and very little actual music. I was bored as hell. Wasn't terrible as I've seen much worse, but I'll never watch it again.

Crime 101 - FUCK YES... crime suspense, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo & Halle Berry are all great. There's nothing original about the plot, but the story is so well told. There's a ton of action and some killer car chases. And an ending I could never have pieced together. And Halle's looks incredible here. 86/86 on RT, so this is one the critics and audience agree on.

Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die - I don't even know how to describe what the hell I saw. This is the summary on RT "A man claiming to be from the future takes the patrons of an iconic Los Angeles diner hostage in search of unlikely recruits in a quest to save the world." This was an unhinged mindfuck of a flick. The premise is beyond crazy and everything came out of left field. This was a fucking incredible ride, I was constantly having "holy shit!" moments. Every scene was something completely unexpected. While it was super over the top, it was social commentary on social media, VR and AI and the effects they're having on society as a whole. This will go down as one of the most fun movies of the year. It's not for everybody, but it was exactly the movie I wanted to see. It's Sy-Fi, action with a shit load of dark ass humor. It's 84/87 on RT, I'd put it in the mid 90s though.

Beer League - 6.5/10

Artie Lange & Ralph Macchio star in a film about a group of pals from Jersey who play in a slow pitch softball league.

The jokes are nonstop, majority of them are in poor taste, its focused on Jersey Italian culture, gratuitous amount of boobs, incessant drug use, foul language and slurs...

I find it absolutely hilarious and have watched it multiple times.

I watched a 2005 Luc Besson film, Angel A - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0473753/reference/

Starring Jamel Debbouze (you know him from a meme), and the ridiculously hot Rie Rasmussen
1771108958007.jpeg
Where Rie plays the titular Angel, sent to earth to help miserable little man Jamel.

All in B&W, and in french - for the really smug film critic.
Good acting from Debbouze, but Rasmussen absolutely knocks it out of the park. You're probably thinking "Mila Jovovic" now, whose acting abilities approach those of a plank of wood, but she was asbolutely great in every way.
The film really veers hard into the romantic ending, but fortunately it's only the last scene, the rest you'll like.

7.5/10

Holy mother of all casts.

I watched for the first time

Love, Actually - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0314331/reference/

starring EVERYONE.

Cast

You guys have probably seen this a million times as it's got a reputation of being the peak of date movies, so i'll just say that it was allright, but i would still prefer a single story well told, idk Pretty Woman, over what is essentially an exercise in actor management.

typical christmas / romance flick. 7/10

Porky's - 7/10

Nothing better to watch on Valentines day than the original Porky's from 1981.

From the writer/director who gave us A Christmas Story, Black Christmas and Rhinestone.

Set in the 50's in Florida about a group of HS seniors who want to get laid, so everything revolves around sex in this movie. OK, there are a few lessons to be learned in this film as its wholesome in parts and teaches the viewer about domestic violence and bigotry. But the focus is on women and there are an abundant amount of practical jokes, low brow sex humor, and plenty of nudity.

Is This Thing On? - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt28083456/reference/

Will Arnett and Laura Dern starring, Bradley Cooper directing. Super, super serious life drama about middle age, parenting, failing marriages, and life in general. Everyone in the cast takes the script veeeery seriously, but i found myself bored very fast. This drama is the kind of drama that i can get for free, IRL, by just being alive in the world. I do not believe this script deserves to be made into a film.

It's .. weird. If i had to explain why this and other films like it exist, it would be "Americans coming to terms with real life". You're basically going through your Italian Neorealism phase, just 80 years later and not in black & white.

Idk, for some it will be a masterpiece. I guess back in the day, Neorealism had its thing because the audience felt represented by what they were seeing onscreen, instead of having their weekly Cowboys & Indians escapism slop. As someone with profound social and cultural differences from either you now or them then, i just don't feel that representation.

For me, no vote/10

Is this turning into a shadow babe thread?

Anyhow finished watching Fallout Season 2 with the Mrs. last night.

It's a fun, campy show and if you're a fan of Bethsoft's Fallout games, and or New Vegas, it's a very fun watch just for the sheer tonnage of fan service.

Great production values, and despite the anti-woke grifters and tourists trying to drag the first season down, they fell away like water off a duck's back cause Fallout has always been woke as fuck and further still has always done inclusivity right.

Ok, as far as Season 2, it was a great season in terms of upping stakes and action, dropping fan service bombs (no pun intended), as well as wrapping up Lucy's current arc, and giving the Ghoul some interesting things to do.

But it also felt like a little meandering with Maximus and the Brotherhood of Steel, the NCR/Legion subplot, and was totally fucking lost with what to do with Norm (who is easily one of my favorite characters on the show).

Couple good nuggets in there setting up future plotlines - NCR/Legion conflict round 3 electric boogaloo, Vault 0, Liberty Fuckin' Prime, Super Mutants but as a season it feels very much like it's between two worlds.

All said and done, writers did a decent job writing something that was both satisfying while starting interesting new threads that are worth following. Hope the show has a planned 5 season arc and doesn't just run into made up bullshit territory like so many successful shows do.

And last thing, Steph's flashback story is fucking insane considering the current idiot in chief's threats to annex Canada. What a weird timeline we live in where Fallout lore isn't inconceivable in the real world.

"Don't think of them as Human, think of them as Americans" JFC.

Saw that Blazing Saddles was free on YouTube. I watched it expecting it to be severely censored. It was not! A classic.

Also saw that Trading Places was also available. 🙂 Crestfallen to see it was labeled the ‘TV version’. 🙁

Give it a couple more years, and it will come with a 5 minute disclaimer at the front, and several scenes cut out.........

ok, i've watched Solo Mio, i can't say i enjoyed it much. 'twas fun to recognize that i've been on nearly every set the film uses, aside from that it's a very basic romcom with not a lot of com. Or rom. I found it most impressive that they got permission to film during the Palio di Siena, that's about it.

Romcom's don't usually work for me, while I haven't see this one. I did see Is This Thing On? And I agree with what you said, it bored the shit out of me, there were maybe 2 semi funny scenes. And this one's PG, at least R rated movies can have some edgy jokes. I also saw The Roses last year, another boring ass romantic comedy.

How To Make A Killing - This was a pretty funny black comedy. RT's tag "Disowned at birth by his obscenely wealthy family, blue-collar Becket Redfellow (Glen Powell) will stop at nothing to reclaim his inheritance, no matter how many relatives stand in his way." There's lots of very dark humor, one of the few comedies I actually laughed at loud at, which is rare for me. I saw a screening, it officially comes out on the 20th. Glen Powell is the star, and he does a fabulous job. This isn't some sort of classic and won't win any awards, but I had a great time and will probably watch it again with a friend when it's on streaming.

Cold Storage - A Sci-Fi/Horror/comedy. Besides Liam Neeson & Vanessa Redgrave, I didn't recognize anyone else. That's not to say nobody was in it, I just recently started watching new movies again. There was someone from Stranger Thing and Barbarian in it, I just don't know who they are. It had a few really hilarious scenes, for the horror aspect I'd say it was pretty light, and the Sci-Fi was well done. There were a few extremely gory scenes. I loved that it didn't take itself too serious, this could have easily been a campy 80's flick. Some of the CGI was borderline bad, but IMHO that somehow added to the movie for me. Everyone was good in it, Liam was awesome as always. It's 80/81% on RT so everyone seems to like it. I'll definitely watch it again with a friend when it's streaming. It felt like a modern-day Tremors or Arachnophobia. I might even put it at 85%, it's absolutely worth watching if you like 80s horror flicks that were as much comedy as horror.

Both unreleased. You must have gotten invited to the premiere, surely.

How To Make A Killing was an AMC Unseen, you buy a ticket and you don't know what the movie is until it starts, the only info they give is the rating. If it's a horror movie, it's a Sceam Unseen so you know it's scary. They do these around once a month, it'll be anywhere from only a few days to a week or 2 before the movie comes out. Cold Storage was released last week to about 1600 theaters, so it wasn't as big of a release as something like Crime 101 which was in 3100.

. I'm a gambler so I've been to every one of these since I signed up for AMC A Plus in September. I've had really good luck with them, well, except Is This Thing On? SHIT I hated that one lol It's an interesting concept to get people to spend $15+ on a ticket for an unknown movie. They usually do pretty well I guess, because they're almost always in 2 screens simultaneously.

ah, bless you.

I used to do this in my youth, go to a matinee theater (normally the one inside Copley Place center, Boston), and pick a movie based on the title or the poster.

Stopped doing this after i paid to watch Independence Day thinking it was a scifi film.

Started rewatching true detective season 1 for the first time since it came out.

Holy shit in episode 2 we get to see Alexandra daddario completely fucking naked. For extended seconds.

I didn't know who she was until White lotus season 1 and she is one of the most gorgeous humans. My goodness.

She is amazingly beautiful. Those eyes

Yeah I mean she is gorgeous with her clothes on and then out of nowhere in episode 2 these amazingly perfectly milky white glowing orbs of goodness in Woody harrelson's face mesmerized me. Thank God I was already sitting on my fainting couch.

If I was still smoking cigarettes I would just watch that scene on repeat and hypnotize myself enough to quit, because professional hypnotists are expensive.
