NVRAM on an Intel Performance/AU (Aurora) motherboard

I've been getting this error on an Intel Performance/AU motherboard. It is a 450KX based PPro board that on boot has the message:

NVRAM Error, NVRAM Cleared
NVRAM Checksum Error, NVRAM Cleared

Can someone at least point me in the right direction as to the cause of this?

The BIOS information is not affected, however under use the display occasionally blinks, neither the power supply nor the video card (Matrox Millenium) are at fault because they have been swapped with known good components.

Check "Tetsuo" in my system rigs for further hardware setup details.
