So, what stuff do you watch on YouTube?

There isn't much to watch on TV this time of year, so I've been looking for stuff to watch on YouTube.

I've been finding the MRE reviews from Steve1989 to be oddly amusing. That guy eats stuff from World War II era rations, which is pretty crazy.

I've also been digging LGR (Lazy Game Reviews) reviews of old computer hardware, and Linus Tech Tips.

What stuff do you guys watch when you get bored?

Binged on Steve1989 a few months back. He is both amusing and covers an interesting subject.

Still watch Gameplay videos, various Yogscast channels, Mindcrack, Quill18. A few Car Review channels, Motor Mouth Canada, Doug DeMuro, and The Straight Pipes. Numerous Left Politics channels, TYT, Thom Hartman, Secular Talk, Rational National, David Pakman, Majority Report. Atheist/Skeptic/Debate channels such as Creationist Cat, Non Sequitur, Hugo and Jake, The Thinking Atheist.

Humor like RedLetterMedia, ScreenJunkies, Epic Rap Battles of History, Political Juice, etc

History/facts like Knowing Better, Extra Credits, Today I Found Out, Fact Fiend, etc

machining videos abom79/oxtool/etc.
car repair stuff etcg/southmainauto
ee stuff eevblog/etc.

The same gay ass 80's music I watch every day. Unless my friend comes over for the weekend and we play Uncharted Waters Online ..then we watch movies and history/sci-fi stuff.

Cat videos of course. I also like to watch car related stuff. Lately I have been watching vintage road tests of late 60s and early 70s muscle cars.

Everything. I got sucked in & watched like 3 hours of Cambodian fish traps the other day lol:

a smattering of this and that.

PBS EONS, cringe videos, music videos, dank memes, Chubbyemu, WatchMojo, Blair White, Shoe on Head, Boxxy, etc....

Reddit has a great sub for documentaries that can be watched for free on Youtube:

I'm not a huge fan of boring documentaries that you generally see on TV, but the ones they post are generally pretty interesting. I also like Meal Time Videos, gives you something short to watch when you're eating or just have a few minutes to kill while doing something boring:

Yeah, I’ve been a sucker for the new “MotorWeek Retro” videos. It’s crazy that they have had the same host for 35 years, and he basically looks the same through the whole series !

I like to see all of the crazy stuff people do IRL. Look at this dude...he's basically flying on a K'nex set lol:

Almazan Kitchen is pretty cool, it's basically ASMR + Slow TV + Cooking + 4K + the great outdoors:

I love that show. I couldn't believe it was still on either. Last week I saw their video on the McLaren 570 spider where the voiceover talked about that great feeling of having the wind blow through your hair while the video had a bald guy driving it. The announcer guy has a soothing voice, but that show almost never has anything bad to say about any car.

Not much. I’ve gotten into watching pewdiepie for some reason and this travel show about Hong Kong. Other than that only music vids when I have a buzz

Lately quite a few Podcasts (Joe Rogan, Bobby Lee, Marc Maron,Bert Kreischer, Tom Segura)

but most of the time - Hot Ones (of course), Music Videos, Fail videos, DIY videos, old documentaries, movie trailers

Several bike channels mostly mountain bike, RedLetterMedia, Robbaz, Mighty Car Mods, Samcrac, Rich Rebuilds, random adult swim vids, Primitive Technology, bunch of other random crap.

TechMoan and Nostalgia Nerd have some good retro tech stuff. The former does more A/V stuff. Technology Connections is another but he started putting out these sorta weird videos complaining about people complaining about LED streetlights and things that are weird in tone.

Jesus how did youtube go from gingers have soul pure-caos dumpster of randomness, to being so standardized as to resemble TV programming.

I deleted all my subs about 5 years ago but a few have crept back in, i have the PBS channels "fo' science", Historia Civilis and other similar ones on historic events (mostly battles), History Buffs (cinema), RLM, some weird music like Postmodern Jukebox, RobScallion, Steve N Seagulls ...

I got a bunch of swords/smithing/katana things hitting -do videos like Matthew Jensen, Agadmador's chess daily, Chyrosran's kb reviews, primitive technology, Jim Sterling...

... and a whole bunch of gun videos.
Just like porn, i watch what i cant get IRL.

There's AdoreTV, rocketjumpninja, and many, many small channels owned by various eSports personalities (NOT pewdiepie, but rather 2gud, rapha, dreamhack, etc) and the vast majority are "private" channels where other players upload videos for non-commercial purposes.

I do find that some for-profit videos are either useful, or entertaining, but i detest their nature. And while the passion of a channel, say, like The Great War can push me over, or even a channel like Jotun Studio that is marketing, but ... not as manipulative .. i would still want to (metaphorically) burn all the Yogscasts and pewdiepies of youtube, who create content not out of passion but only for a paycheck.

TLDR KILL WATCHMOJO

Instructional videos, old music, misc.

Recommendations if you have a big screen and good sound.

The Black Watch parading the royal mile.

Phantom of the opera theme done by 4 cellos.
