Question Ssd upgrade on lenovo laptop

I own lenovo ideapad gaming 3 15ach6 82k200nupb. On their official site they only allow 1tb ssd for my slot. Can I install bigger storage ssd in that slot? Also this is pcie 3.0 x 4 slot. Is there any sense in buying pcie 4x4 ssd?

A larger SSD should work perfectly fine. Usually when the OEM spec lists that, it's because that's the largest drive they offered in that laptop in any config.

If you get a gen 4 SSD, it will link at gen 3 speeds. You'll gain nothing from it except in the future if you remove it from the laptop and use it elsewhere that does have a gen 4 link.

Still, random reads/writes could be better in newer (PCIe 4.0) M.2 NVMe drives. Also not all PCIe 3.0 drives max out PCIe 3.0 speeds.
So at least do not avoid a drive just because is PCIe 4.0.
