who the hell's making these ads on mobile games?

I keep seeing ads for a "make real money playing Solitaire!" game. I've seen 3 different ones. In all 3 somebody drops their wallet/purse or leaves it behind. A person see's them drop it and picks it up and proceeds to opens it and steal a bunch of $$$. Then they tell the person they found it and give it back. And the person thanks them and tells them to install Solitaire Smash so they can win real money. The person installs the game and instantly wins $80. The message of the ad... steal from people and ye shall be rewarded. Them also calling Solitair a "skill based game" is pretty fucking hilarious.

And about 10 times today I've seen this match 3 to save the person game ad . The player sucks, so the character dies, and in this one it's a small girl who you can hear choking for 15 seconds, and she ends up running out of air and dying. You don't actually see her die, but you know that's what happened. The choking sound effect is a bit too much lol. I understand it's a cartoony game, but it's fucking weird they show off their game a small child suffering for half a minute and dying. GTA's one of the most violent games, and even they don't allow children to be killed. Maybe the ad is supposed to make you want to install it so you can save the lil girl. But I can't stop thinking about a poor 6 year old drowning.

These are almost as weird as the porno ads that call you a pathetic ass horny loser who can't get laid lol.

I get them on streamed TV...my favorite is the Moo-ing, charging Buffalo(?)... like that's somehow an iconic image in "America". Real high end ads?...no, not even close.

I play games on very rare occasions, but they're the simplest of games. Solitaire class stuff. Just something to mindlessly poke a screen at. This is what's currently installed, but I can't remember last time I played one.

It beats paying to play a game, but I guess mobile game ads are a 1stworldproblem
If you use a VPN it blocks all those ads as well.

A VPN and a browser with a good ad blocker is pretty essential for a mobile phone nowadays.

Someone was complaining about a local news website at work the other day. I use it occasionally and to me its just a list of stories in the usual way. I looked at their phone and, well fucking hell, how do people cope with that shit?!

How exactly does a VPN block ads in a game where you have to subscribe or pay a 1 time fee to stop them? I've tried playing with Airplane mode on, and they won't run because they detect there's no Internet connection.

The ads just don't show on my VPN (I can't remember if I set any ad blocking stuff in it as well. It's Nord). I guess that the VPN is just blocking the ad server.
