Yay, somebody in marketing acknowledged people do compile code 😉 What is even more surprising is that marketing is not pushing (yet) the gaming angle, I would say, that's (for now) impressive.

Why would you expect gaming to be improved? Them not marketing gaming is right on what you'd expect.

I have not expected any substantial improvements for gaming (if you check my post history), that's the point. I was afraid they will mindlessly throw gaming in there.

So half-jokingly I said I am impressed by the fact they did not choose to shoot themselves in the foot by marketing it to gamers😉

Even in AMD's own cherry-picked slides there is no double digit uplift. 🤡
13% is also single digit.?..

Ryzen-9-9950X3D-vs-9950X3D2-q82-w738-h.webp

a) it ain't
b) it is 270W.

They'll throttle on VRMs just fine.
We ll see on reviews, and no, VRMs throttling doesnt make sense, that would be non guaranted perfs,
AMD wont make the mistake of releasing a CPU that is not fully compatible with existing MBs, this would
be counterproductive commercialy wise, better is to make sure that whoever has an AM5 MB can upgrade
straight fowardly.

230W is the AM5 max power, so there wont be any of your invented 270W since that would be asking for big troubles for existing MBs s reliability.
AMD doesn't list the PPT anywhere for this part (nor price) BUT this is the first part to list a 200W TDP. All previous 9950X/7950X variants are 170W TDP but ranged from 200-232W PPT. TDP doesn't necessarily mean PPT increased, so we will see. But it seems more flaming hot ASRock motherboards are coming soon?

LOL after waiting almost 8 months for this 9950X3D2 to release so I could upgrade to AM5, going through all the ridiculous increases in RAM prices, last week I finally purchased the 9950X3D + motherboard + RAM.

Screw me specifically, I guess.

So I gotta ask. Why?

If you've been waiting this long for 3D2's marginal gains, why wouldn't you continue to wait for Zen 6?

Why would any sane person buy this cpu? It WILL get outdated within 8 months. The dual cache is such a niche feature that only the most ardent of AMD fans will buy it.

Well, there's a niche for it for new systems from now until NVL bLLC and Z6 X3D launch. I guess this is a very small market and even smaller now due to memory shortages. And I suspect it'll be very hard to justify at whatever price AMD wants for it.
