Intel processors crashing Unreal engine games (and others)

Even Franken Boards with Alder lake processors will hold the value... and I was about to buy a system with a 13900K frankenboard... went with the 1280P to test it. I've avoided a tactical nuke...

That article wasn't so much about desktop sales as it was laptops, e.g. nobody wants to buy Meteor Lake and Lunar Lake because they cost too much for what you get. Intel stuffed the channel with 10nm junk at firesale prices and people are sticking to that wherever possible.

Probably a reason those held there value was because they were top end CPU's and Intel changes sockets (sing) like a girl changes clothes (/sing). I got good money for my Phenom II 940 because it was the top end AM2 CPU (one of only two quad cores as far as I'm aware).

I think Intel suffered badly, but the there is some delay / inefficiency in "word of month" to spread.

Because, Intel has had the "media" in its pocket, through various forms of advertisement, "consulting", sponsorships, the news does not get out through those channels.

But if you want to look at leading edge toward mainstream (Mind Factory, Amazon, Newegg, Micro Center), Intel went from dominating to 50:50 to 1:10 or worse.

BTW, Micro Center customers have been slow to shift from Intel to AMD, but that is happening now too. When you start from overall processors -> all CPUs, there is an option to sort by "Most Popular". And currently, 8 out of top 10 are AMD CPUs.

I remember when Exist (sp?) was still on here, I argued that Meteor Lake is too complex (with its packaging) and it will end up being too expensive (limiting its applicability). He didn't see it as a problem.

But it is turning out to be a problem. Intel's packaging raises the "floor" for the price these processors can be sold at (= no low end). And now Intel is missing the low end. The only thing that Intel sell here is Raptor Lake.
 
How are reports of Raptor Lake still degrading going? I have hear of at least two users that got brand new 14900K after RMAing their original, damaged ones, spend since their first power on already on 0x12B Microcode, and are already reporting issues with them. Both are powered all day mostly on idle, which seems to be the exact case that 0x12F is supposed to prevent cause it wasn't fully fixed.
 
No issues for me yet. I have a 14700K on Z690 Ace and a 14600K on a Z690 Carbon (both MSI boards) on latest BIOS with no evidence of degradation yet. They run lightly threaded workloads including F@H.

I had a 14900KS come in that was so badly degraded it couldn't successfully boot the Windows install USB.

More evidence that none of the assertions by deniers, as means of prevention, have any validity. I used to call Raptor an unmitigated disaster, now it's a mitigated disaster. With yet another microcode update/mitigation coming.

Those old 8700 offices boxes are the latest iteration of the Optiplex Youtube meme. Great shoestring budget gamers. There are a few members on the ARC sub reddit that use the cards with overclocked 9900Ks, so it is fairly nukeproof too. Rapture lake is not even 3 years old yet, and they die like mayflies.

Something that always makes me laugh is when some goofy goober writes in a dismissive way that rapture lake failures are way down the list of Intel's problems.
