but i absolutely do not remember watching it.
Yes. Happens to me a lot. Brain overwrites past experiences it seems or they fade to the point of nothingness. Sometimes I will be 40 minutes into a movie and get this feeling, haven't I seen this before? And sure enough, scenes start looking more and more familiar till my brain confirms, yes, you seen this before, you idiot!

Secret of the Incas (1954) - 6/10

Starring Charleston Heston and shot on location in Machu Picchu - visuals are great and I really enjoyed the classic writing. This film was the inspiration for Indiana Jones and its neat to see where Spielberg lifted plot points and wardrobe choices.

Only real negative was the horrendous dubbed "singing".

The Running Man (2025) - 6/10

The original is far superior but this was fun campy ride. At 140 minutes it was long, it really needed better editing and some restraint.

Michael Cera & William H Macy were fantastic, Josh Brolin plays his character very well. But overall this just moved non-stop and not in a good way, paced needed slowed, instead the Director tried to cram 4hrs of content in 140 minutes so it felt choppy.
To me, it felt like a TV show that never ends, so close, he gets away, so close, he gets away, so close he gets away as the episodes just kept coming and then the finale was far from satisfying.

Hail Mary: 8/10

* Took about halfway into the movie to find its heart, but got solid & stayed solid!
* Kept my attention the whole time, which was unusual & most welcome!
* Bit of a "The Martian" vibe (mostly a "solo guy"), so if you like that one, you can handle this one! It's definitely not for everyone. I don't think that many kids or teenagers would enjoy it.

Notes:

* I enjoyed Castaway & will probably never watch Castaway again. Same with this movie: a fantastic experience worth a theater trip if you like space movies (me!!), maybe I'll see it again in the future, definitely worth the ride, but not designed to be "rewatchable" like say BTTF.
* This is a "realistic" space movie - not a comedy, but it IS funny & cute, sort of in the vein of the Orville (i.e. real people with real problems), but not quite so "silly". Realistic in both the space tech & realistic in the way that humans really behave & interact.
* Sort of like how Ad Astra doesn't focus on the science of the space stuff, but uses it as a deliciously nerdy backdrop - same here, but this is not a "serious" or "heavy" movie like Gravity or Apollo 13.

Cinematically:

* Beautifully shot. I liked it more than the new Dune! Some great homages to 2001. Some really exceptionally gorgeous shots.
* Great soundscape & soundtrack. Definitely see in theaters if you're an audio person!
* I was happy with the ending overall! This is sort of Castaway meets Lilo & Stitch meets Ad Astra (i.e. it's really about the relationship story). Or like bit of a lightweight "Interstellar" (gotta go fix the stuff to save everyone) mixed with "Arrival", but more fun.

If you want spoilers:

Essentially:

1. The premise is about saving Earth, but the story is about a lonely man who makes a nice alien friend
2. The alien is a really fun design with fun solutions for interactions!
3. I liked the ending (wee bit silly at the very end, but heartwarming)

I need that alien's 3D printer!!

You don't really want to know. You want to be fooled.

That was me watching this movie going in blind. Amazing experience.

The movie is about Angier's obsession over how the trick is done, but the movie deprives the viewer of having the same obsession by telling you up front.

For me, in his run from Memento (2000) to Inception (2010), it's my least favorite.

The Mummy - Best horror movie I've seen in ages, and it was actually pretty scary. A small girl's kidnapped and is found like 8 years later. The family takes her home but she's all kinds of fucked up. Movies that have small children as the monster work when they're done right. The little girl's creepy for sure. It was extremely gory and a few of the scenes had me a little disturbed even. I think critics are bitching because of the direction it veered from the original. But I don't remember the original, and that's 90+ years old. I enjoyed this a lot, and the sound was fucking great in the Dolby Theater I saw it in. This isn't a classic, but it's a solid flick.
I tried to watch this movie based on your recommendation but stopped like 20 minutes into it. It was just boring and the acting was so painful.

EDIT:

LOL after IMDB'ing, I see there are 2 "The Mummy" movies that both came out this year and it appears I started the other one.

Also watched Super Mario Galaxy...

I liked it a lot. It wasn't quite as good as the first one, but that isn't really a knock. They weren't going to make one better than the first iteration of bringing Mario to the big screen.

The movie is just filled with easter eggs and things that will make Mario fans happy. I loved all of the inclusion of the Super Mario 2 stuff and the nods to Super Mario World. The 2D side scrolling scenes and how they showed them in 3D and 2D were really neat. Yoshi was great as expected. Bowser Jr. was great and it felt like I was playing the Bowser Fury game while watching him lol.

If you liked the first one, you will probably like this one.

That was actually a really cool part of the game, too! Going from 3D to 2D was fun:
