Our second house has a smallish yard, ~1/2 ac. I'm getting tired of trailering the X300 back and forth an hour each way to maintain the lawn/yard.
So, began looking around for something inexpensive but decent. Stumbled into the Simplicity dealer in Abbeville yesterday on a lark, given Simplicity mowers are not cheap to buy.
He's got a leftover 2011 Regent, their entry mower, hanging around. He's got it stuck back in the storage area with all the other new crated mowers he has. 20hp B&S "Professional Series" single cylinder motor, 42" deck, hydro trans, electric PTO for the blade.
Offered it to me for $1k, with full warranty. (Brand new model sells for #2100.) Looked all over it....it's never cut a blade of grass, everything looks just like a 2014 model on the showroom floor. But the length of time it's been sitting kinda bothers me. Leaving power equip. unused for extended lengths of time can lead to problems.
Would you take the "chance" on it? It's about equivalent to the John Deere D125.
