What’s really weird is Trump’s focus on federalizing the elections in 15 targeted states. Wouldn’t gutting the VRA kinda defeat whatever mechanisms he has for changing the rules in 15 states and not the others???

Your complaints about the Confederate flag are invalid because that's an important part of US history, and as we all know, historically the US did not have gay and trans people until they were invented in the 1970s by Soviet communists as a plot to weaken the United States.

Yes, they just push through as if whatever it is they're doing is fine. Then if any challenges come (and they lose) later on, it's too late. The damage has been done, and the overton window has shifted even further as a result.

On an almost daily basis we're seeing things that would have been "no questions asked, stop the presses, fire everyone involved, congressional hearings, marched out in cuffs" scandals ~10yrs ago and now it's just marked as a Tuesday.

I don't think so - doing this would not allow him to falsify the results in any remotely credible way (and if you don't care about credibility then all this is unnecessary anyway).

Election subversion is definitely a threat but it's going to take the form of thugs intimidating voters and things like that. It could also be pressure for republican officials to not certify their losses and such. Outright falsification of ballots is just not particularly likely and the idea of cancelling elections seems flat out absurd to me.
