My UPS battery backup has just shut off a few times this year. On Thursday it made a solid tone sound with some sort of error or fault. One of the batteries is at bit less than 12 volts and the other 10 something volts. I ordered new batteries but who knows if the UPS is dying or if it's just the batteries.

Found this article on Vicky With Three Kisses. It was a British propaganda program from WWII. Fuckers apparently didn't make any recordings. I'd love to hear what she sounded like.

Here's GI Jill. Not propaganda, but served the legitimate roll for US troops Vicky purported to serve for the Germans. I love Jill. I have a bunch of recordings of her.

Fire panel at work started beeping, went to check, generator fault. Went to check generator panel, low coolant. I don't have snow shoes here so can't get to the generator to go physically look, but sure hope it's not a leak and maybe just a bad sensor or something. Called it in to maintenance as an emergency. We're suppose to get a big storm so would be bad if it doesn't start. I'll be able to work my last shift from home and the VPN doesn't go through this building so would probably be fine... but better safe than sorry. Any time power bumps here and I'm working from the office I lose pretty much everything including the phones.

I am a small business owner. Over the past week or so I have answered over a dozen phone calls asking if we are still open for business because apparently Googles AI says we are permanently closed.

Obviously I got alarmed and when digging into it I traced it back to Yelp. Yelp decided that we were permanently closed so Googles AI picked up on that and started spreading the word.

So that means on Monday I get to try an get ahold of Yelps customer service and to explain to them that we are not permanently closed. It should be a cake walk because everybody knows tech companies have exceptional customer service....sigh.....

Wow that is super annoying. There is a small business here trying to sell their building and it ended up starting a rumour that they were permanently closing. The dumb part is they specifically said "we're selling the building only not the business!" and people still started the rumour.

The fire panel saga at work continues. The generator alarm seems to be intermittent so every time it comes in it resets the alarm and all the annunciators start beeping again. This is going to be a long night lol. There's a button to disable the audible sounds but it no longer works, I suspect it's a safety thing where it only lets you do it for a certain time.

I have a tech coming to look at it tomorrow, he's like 8 hours away. Ended up going outside to check the generator just to see if it was anything obvious I can do myself but it's pretty tight in there without taking stuff apart and with all the snow made it harder to move around. At least it was hard enough that I didn't sink all the way through. Didn't see anything obvious like a leak or anything so it might just be a sensor or something. Would be fun to troubleshoot it more but it's beyond my pay grade and I probably shouldn't be playing in there. 😛

They're making an animated Firefly sequel... without Whedon involved.
Whedon seems like a real dick, but he really has what it takes to make phenomenal tv. It's a shame the two attributes were put together. He'd be a legend if not for being a dickhead. Now, everything he's done has an asterisk next to it :^/

FFS VPN just died and I just lost all my stuff. Can't reconnect. Really hope it starts working soon really don't want to have to go in the office in this crap weather. It's not SUPER bad yet to the point I can't drive but it might get bad by morning.

Was able to get back in. Now have to relogin to everything. Don't know what that was about. We're a telecom company, and they can't figure out how to get a VPN to sustain a connection for 12 hours, is it that much to ask? lol.

I'm not sure how our IT systems and security work but we have a VPN we have to be connected to at work 100% of the time or nothing will open, not even MS apps. Sometimes I get error messages and notifications that I'm blocked from accessing particular websites because they violate our company Information Security policy, but the sites I am accessing are things like Dropbox or other websites of vendors with whom we have a contract. I'm not sure why these say they are blocked. Then 10 minutes later my access is restored?

Saw the eye doc today at 9 am and he said he sees signs of Glaucoma and wants to shoot laser in my eyes to stop my eyes from deteriorating.
